The panchang used in Jharkhand is Purnimanta: a month begins the day after the full moon and ends on the next full moon. Santali and Mundari month names are close relatives of these.

Adhik maas

Roughly every 32–33 months, one lunar month passes without a sankranti and is repeated as Adhik maas. 2026: Ashadha, Jyeshtha; 2027: none.

Purnimanta aur Amanta

States such as Maharashtra and Gujarat end the month on Amavasya instead. The festival day is the same; only the month name in the dark half differs.
